Job Description:Our client, a leading poultry abattoir, is seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer Supervisor to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of supervisory experience, preferably in poultry within the food or FMCG industry, and a strong foundation in electrical and mechanical engineering. This pivotal role involves leading the maintenance team, tackling complex challenges, and ensuring that high-quality engineering solutions meet production needs while adhering to industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Maintenance Manager by supervising the maintenance team to complete tasks safely and efficiently, aligning with company and UK government regulations.
Provide engineering guidance and support to the maintenance team, production teams, and other departments.
Plan and execute preventative and reactive maintenance activities as directed by the maintenance system.
Maintain accurate and "audit-ready" records of all maintenance activities and ensure compliance with hygiene and cleanliness standards.
Monitor, maintain, and improve the performance of machinery and equipment, including the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and other waste equipment.
Implement and uphold engineering best practices across the site, focusing on Health & Safety, Food Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards.
Identify and implement opportunities to improve equipment reliability and eliminate recurring faults.
Organise team rotas and delegate work effectively to ensure operational efficiency.
Carry out installations and provide engineering guidance based on business needs.
Ensure adherence to Food Safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Collaborate across departments to minimize disruption during maintenance activities.
Provide feedback to the maintenance system for continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Skills:
Minimum of 2 years’ supervisory/management experience, preferably in poultry within the food or FMCG industry.
Proven experience as a multi-disciplined engineer with an electrical bias and sound mechanical knowledge.
Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications (in-date).
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the food or FMCG industry.
Food Safety Level 2 certification (or willingness to obtain).
Proficiency in English for effective communication across all organisational levels.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
Shift and Schedule:
Production typically runs Monday to Friday, with occasional work on Saturdays and bank holidays.
Flexibility with shifts and hours, including participation in a backup call-out rota, is required.
