Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and committed PIA or Meat Inspector (trainee or fully qualified) to join their quality assurance team at a poultry abattoir. This role is critical in ensuring that products meet the highest standards of quality and safety. The successful candidate will inspect poultry products on the production line, implement HACCP principles, and maintain compliance with industry regulations. Additionally, the inspector will collaborate with production teams to identify areas for improvement and support other production areas as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct visual and physical inspections of poultry products throughout the production line, ensuring products meet health and quality standards.
Identify and reject products that do not meet quality or safety standards.
Maintain accurate records of product rejections to ensure losses are documented and recouped effectively.
Communicate clearly with the FSA (Food Standards Agency) and auditing officials.
Assist in other production areas, including quality assurance checks, evisceration, and packing, when not performing inspection duties.
Ensure compliance with Food Safety, HACCP, Health and Safety, and environmental procedures.
Complete required documentation accurately and promptly.
Pursue training and development to remain compliant with current regulations and industry standards.
Provide support across different production areas as required.
Requirements:
Level 2 Award for Proficiency in Poultry Meat Inspection (preferred; training provided if not already qualified).
Knowledge of HACCP principles and food safety in manufacturing, preferably within the meat industry.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with team members and officials effectively.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Commitment to maintaining high-quality standards and continuous improvement.
