Location: Hybrid (3 days on-site in Whitehaven, Cumbria or Warrington, Cheshire; 2 days remote)
Contract: 12-month term, inside IR35, renewable
Job Description:Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior/Lead EC&I Engineer to lead EC&I design projects for the Sellafield Nuclear Plant. This role involves advanced technical expertise, regulatory compliance, and multidisciplinary collaboration. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the design and implementation of electrical, control, and instrumentation systems meet the highest standards of safety and performance in the nuclear sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design and development of EC&I systems, ensuring compliance with nuclear regulations and safety standards.
Produce and review critical documentation, including:
Block Cable Diagrams
Single-Line Diagrams
Instrument Loops and Hook-ups
Termination Drawings
Control System Sequence Drawings
Panel Designs and General Arrangements
Specifications and Datasheets
Perform and verify cable calculations, lighting modelling, and risk assessments using tools such as AMTECH.
Develop and verify electrical safety mechanisms (61508) and safety calculations (BS EN 13849).
Create and review commissioning documents, test plans, and technical specifications.
Ensure compliance with EMC principles, including cable segregation and Faraday principles.
Chair single-discipline design reviews to ensure project objectives are met.
Participate in hazard analysis processes, including HAZOP and ALARP.
Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of 3–4 engineers, allocating resources effectively to achieve project goals.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate EC&I solutions seamlessly.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Control Engineering (required).
Chartered Engineer status (preferred).
Minimum of 5 years’ EC&I experience, with at least 2 years in the nuclear sector.
Expertise in EC&I design tools, regulations, and technical documentation.
